Superfruits, with an exceptional amount of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, are your body's number one way to get on top of your game.
Get in Touch with Potency
Your body is a super-organism. The complexity with which you operate is something that scientists are still researching despite thousands of years of studies in various regions around the world. You are both highly adaptable and susceptible to change in your environment.
Your body can live off of mediocre foods and drinks. It can even withstand synthetic pharmaceuticals. It's a wonder of science that many of us can even function while starving our bodies with poor nutrition and brow-beating our cells into submission through multitudes of manufactured drugs.
Your super-body is designed to readily receive naturally-occurring superfoods. Yes, you can trudge along with the irritants that are incorporated into most food options, but your body lights up when superfoods enter into your system; the molecules of superfoods fit the receptors of your innermost membranes.
Remember: the definition of a superfood is that it has only upsides and no downsides for your body. Meaning, they only have positive qualities and no negative aspects that could offset your benefits.
One of our favorite ways to get superfood is in the form of "superfruits." In fact, superfruits are such a vital part of getting well and staying well, that we recommend incorporating them into your diet on a daily basis.
Check it out.
Regular Fruit versus True Superfruits
What is a Superfruit?
Superfruits are fruits that have an outstanding amount of nutrition per serving, and are usually less sugary than regular fruits. This may give them a sour, bitter, or pungent taste and smell. Some examples are: Acerola Tart Cherries, Camu Camu Berries, Rosehips, Amalaki Berries (also known as Amla), and Schisandra Berries.
And then there are some that still retain some sweetness! Examples of these are Blueberries and Pomegranate.
Why have true Superfruits been underestimated until recently?
They've been misunderstood because of the weak reputation that the high fructose fruits have earned. Most people have lumped all fruits together and haven't learned to make the clear distinction between Superfruit and regular fruit. Slowly, more and more people are actually understanding the wide array of benefits that the true Superfruits have to offer.
Superfruits have countless benefits. Here are a few:
- Lower Glycemic Index than regular fruits.
- Immune System fortification. (You get sick less often.)
- Terrific antioxidant qualities.
- Anti-inflammatory properties.
- Clear out sinuses.
- Help with weight management by improving healthy metabolism.
- Great fiber for healthier bowel movements.
- The ability to reduce of cravings for poor food.
- Powerful blockers for illnesses, auto-immune diseases, and even cancers.
- Improved sleep.
- Potency to noticeably lift your mood.
- Organic energy releases to help you avoid afternoon slumps.
- Create mental clarity and focus.
- The ability to aid you in recovery from intense workouts, illnesses, and even childbirth!
- Reduced or eliminated allergies in many people.
- Components to regulate your hormones.
- Relieve joint stiffness.
- May reduce deterioration of your eyes.
- Prevented urinary tract infections.
- Improved stamina.
- Strengthen your stress responses.
- Prevents Type II Diabetes.
Your body absolutely craves the vast array of macro-nutrients and micro-nutrients that true Superfruits give you. Even your skin, nails, and hair improve because of Superfruits. Besides noticing a difference in how you feel on the inside, these outward signs are a way to watch the improvement in your body's response to potent foods.
Sugars-to-Nutrient Ratio
Regular fruits, while they can provide some vitamins and minerals for your body, do not have quite the effectiveness that SuperFruits have. Many regular fruits have the downside of what is called "High Sugars to Nutrient Ratio." A great number of fruits simply contain a lot of fructose, and not enough powerful nutrients to offset the sugars. For example, oranges are incredibly overrated. 100 years ago they were considered the go-to source for Vitamin C, but now we know that they don't even make it to the top 10 sources of Vitamin C.
The better sources of Vitamin C, such as Acerola Cherries and Camu Camu berries, contain 60 times as much Vitamin C as oranges, and they also pack an incredibly potent blend of other critical nutrients such as amino acids, antioxidants, phytonutrients, fiber, polyphenols, bioflavonoids, potassium, calcium, and iron, and all without a high fructose content.
Please note: Superfruits are the most nutrient-rich fruits on the planet, and should always be organically grown or wild-harvested to make sure that you're getting the cleanest nutrition without toxicity.
Superfruits and Your Performance
At Sarvaa, one of our most-taken supplements is Superfruit C. We only miss a day or two out of the year. This supplement is such a staple for us; we see how well we perform when it's included in our diets, and therefore is one of our highest recommended supplements in our product line.
Superfruits have the ability to help you keep moving forward in your life. They also have other immensely powerful benefits.
Sickness Prevention and Building Your Immunity. Superfruits have the big Vitamin C boost that most people associate with all fruits. Of course, Superfruits have a much more concentrated and bioavailable amount of Vitamin C than regular fruits. Antioxidants are also present in huge quantities, even in small Superfruit berries. You're building your defense against free radicals that can end up doing significant damage to your health.
A Pick-Me-Up When You're Feeling Run Down. You can drink all the orange juice you want when you're starting to feel sick, but nothing will get you back on your feet faster than Superfruits. They're terrific as a preventative to getting sick, and if you're already on your way to feeling crummy, Superfruits will nourish your body and protect your cells much more effectively than any isolated Vitamin C capsule on the market.
Energy Boost. Mood Boost. A lot of one's dreariness can come from a lack of great nutrition. When you start to introduce Superfoods of all kinds, and especially Superfruits, you may start to find that your energy multiplies. It's not magic; it's science. You're finally feeding your cells the nutrients that they have been craving, and they're letting you know! And as we all know, once energy starts coming back, your mood improves. Life starts letting possibilities come trickling in again.
Detox and Recovery. The brilliant thing about Superfoods is that they're not just about preventing sickness, but they're also about effectively repairing your cellular structure after an illness has hit. Superfruits are an amazing clean-up crew: they allow your body to really cleanse itself from toxins and waste. While detoxing, Superfruits are simultaneously nourishing your entire being from your head to your toenails.
A Note About Efficacy: All Superfoods are going to be much more potent for you if you do not block their progress. What does this mean? To put it simply, cut out the aggravants in your diet. A lot of people have the tendency to eat emotionally and will consume foods and drinks that are irritating to their GI tract, liver, circulatory system, lymphatic system, and nervous system. Some people just don't know that they have any sensitivities at all, and can't figure out why they don't feel their best...even when eating Superfoods.
Irritants can include dairy, gluten, refined sugar, refined flours, and alcohol. For some, it may even be nightshades! It's worth evaluating (if you haven't already) which foods may be creating more difficulties for you to feel your brightest, instead of simply relying on Superfoods to do all of the heavy lifting.
The Science of Superfruits
Superfruits are some of your best sources of essential nutrients, such as:
- Phytonutrients
- Bioflavonoids
- Antioxidants
- Fiber
- Amino Acids
- 30 + Essential Vitamins and Minerals
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is probably the vitamin that we are all most familiar with. Vitamin C is exceptional at preventing and beating the common cold. Most of us can testify to the incredible health benefits of consuming lemons, pomegranates, and grapefruit. Although all of these foods are excellent sources of Vitamin C, Superfruits differ in that they often contain a much higher amount of Vitamin C per ounce. Camu Camu Berries, for instance, contain nearly 60 times the amount of Vitamin C compared to a common orange. Because of these high levels of Vitamin C, SuperFruits are essential for healing in a variety of ways including wounds, repairing teeth and other bones.
Antioxidants
Superfruits contain a phenomenal amount of antioxidants. By removing free radicals from the blood stream, antioxidants assist the body in protecting cells from disease and fighting oxidative damage attributed to aging. Antioxidants are known to improve skin tone, eyesight, and promote hair growth. Consuming foods rich in antioxidants on a daily basis can not only result in a longer life, but make you look better and actually enjoy your longer life! Some Superfruits with excellent amounts of antioxidants include camu camu berries, acerola cherry, goji berry, noni fruit, schisandra berry, and mangosteen.
Phytonutrients
Phytonutrients are essential to your health in over a dozen interrelated ways. Did you know that right now as you're reading this, your eyes and optic nerve are relying on phytonutrients? So are many other parts of your body. Studies are showing that phytonutrients can be responsible for reducing the risk for certain types of cancer, reducing asthma, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and inflammation.
There are NO phytonutrients in animal products. Only plants contain phytonutrients. And in general, you can count on the intensely colored fruits and vegetables to be absolutely loaded with excellent quality phytonutrients. Especially the deeply hued reds, purples, magentas, and violet colors. In general, phytonutrients are found in the less sugary, deeply colored fruits.
Fiber
It is estimate that 92% of people are deficient in this vital nutrient. The Standard American Diet consists of foods that are deficient in fiber, most notably, animal products such as meat, dairy, and eggs. Fiber is naturally occurring in fruits, vegetables, legumes and some grains. Did you know that by eating a plant-based diet that you can triple your amount of dietary fiber? Many diseases and illnesses can often be attributed to a lack of fiber.
Fiber is responsible for healthy digestion that is in turn responsible for everything from positive mood to outer appearance. It is perhaps the number one reason why we can be feeling less than our best. When we have healthy digestion, it is easier to feel happy, healthy and glowing! Superfruits are especially beneficial in this regard as they contain "soluble fiber." Soluble fiber dissolves in water, making it easy to digest and for the body to assimilate quickly and efficiently. This means that you can consume superfruits in vast quantities and it will be easy for your body to process and absorb nutrients.
Anti-Inflammatory Benefits
A less well-known fact is that all the Superfruits are excellent at preventing and decreasing excess inflammation. Previous studies show that as much as 2/3 of human ailments are directly or indirectly related to excess inflammation. Again, you want to focus your attention and purchases towards the least sweet fruits to get the most bang for your buck. Think of it like this: All fruits are somewhat beneficial, but the "sweet fruits" like mangoes and bananas are like a 55 lb sack full of sugar, and the vitamins and minerals are in an average ziplock bag tagging along with the sugars. It is so much more beneficial to have it the other way around...if any sugar at all! Remember: you want the vitamins, minerals, fiber, amino acids, phytonutrients, and bioflavonoids to reduce inflammation in your body.
Polyphenols & Bioflavonoids
You're familiar with antioxidants and their amazing ability to fight illness and control the damage that free radicals can cause in your body. Polyphenols are one of the three major groups of antioxidants, and are found in fruits and vegetables, concentrated near the outside layers of the plant (the dark skins). Polyphenols are what give fruits and vegetables their deep and bright colors along with their bitter, astringent, and aromatic properties! They help protect the plant from external damage from weather, sunlight, and pathogens and have similarly protective effect inside our bodies when consumed. Polyphenols make your food look good, taste good, and help you feel good!
Based on their structure, polyphenols can be broken down into further categorization. The first of the four categories of polyphenols is the bioflavonoid. Bioflavonoids are both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory and are found in fruits, vegetables, legumes, red wine, and green tea.
Many of our favorite foods like blueberries, apple skins, currants, and cherries contain a blend of the four varieties of polyphenols. So eat up! The more colorful, tasty varieties of fruits and vegetables you can get a day, the better your antioxidant and anti-inflammatory intake.
Avoid the Dirty Dozen
What does this refer to? The "Dirty Dozen" are a list of fruits and vegetables that turn up in our grocery stores that are the most contaminated with pesticide residue, and ought to be avoided unless they are certified organic. Fruits in general, and berries in particular need to be organically grown! Why? Partly because they easily absorb toxic fertilizers and herbicides and pesticides. And partly because the commercial berries are barraged with chlorine bleach, and color enhancers and preservatives. A study described by Mind Body Green discovered that the most contaminated sample of strawberries had 20 different pesticides!
Two Best Ways to Bring Superfruits Into Your Life
1. Buy as many fresh Organically grown berries, pomegranates, and cranberries as you can afford.
2. Eat the powdered Superfruits that simply are not available fresh, especially Camu Camu, Acerola Cherry, Rosehips, Amla Berries, Goji Berries, Schisandra Berries and Mangosteen. One of the easiest ways to do this is by using a blend like Sarvaa Superfood SuperFruit C at least 4 days a week. The only other really pure and clean Superfruit blend that we recommend is Pure Radiance C in case you want to compare it to Sarvaa's formula.
